Alright, let’s dive in with The Hammer as we go behind the scenes of the 2018 Super Bowl commercial from Isaacs & Isaacs.

The Hammer:
You know they were trying to do in a winter setting and the weekend they picked — it’s amazing how they know all this. But we shot at a place called Fort Pike.

Everybody was freezing, and wet, and cold. You know we were all there for about 12 hours a day. I can’t imagine what people that literally lived back in those times went through.

The Hammer:
They were able to make snow and that was just a cool experience watching that. Had to be in the 30s. Perfect weather, but you know when it rained, it kinda froze and then you mix the snow in. It’s looked so real I don’t think — if people didn’t know we had a snow machine, I don’t think people would know the difference.

The Hammer:
This took about a week to shoot. So I was there for a few days but then they went back and shot the zombies coming out of the water. And I mean it was — it was so cold and you know, they were wet. I just can’t imagine what everybody else went through because, you know, I had more clothes on and I was a little better protected. So like some of those people would be make up for two or three hours. It was fun, cool, hard. A lot of things going on.

Host:
Okay, So this commercial was part two in the series. What was that collaboration like, coming back one year later with writer and producer, Catherine Shreves and the whole team from Image Video Solutions in New Orleans?

The Hammer:
Her team was amazing. You know I said, ‘Well why don’t we just do another zombie,’ and she said, ‘No the the public’s going to expect better.

The Hammer:
The top challenging moment would be — they built this gadget. It’s almost like a mechanical bull and it was pretty high up because to match being on top of a dragon.

The Hammer:
They were gonna put me on a saddle, but then at the last minute they said it would be better to not be on a saddle. But from a safety point I was a little nervous. That would have been a nice drop if I fell. Someone else may have whizzed it, but that was hard.

Host:
In the Darryl Isaacs becomes the actor, you were pretending to interact with this dragon that would really be added later. What was that like for you?

The Hammer:
I was just pretty cool, they kept trying to name the dragon. And I named it “Justice” so it was cool.

Host:
You got to work with Scott Schwartz who was Bruiser in “Ocean’s 11.” How cool was that?

The Hammer:
Ah, he’s amazing. In between when we were all freezing to death, I got to know him pretty good. He’s a great guy. He played professional football, he’s been in a lot of movies and commercials. He went to Temple College and, he’s just a really good man.

Host:
And he poked a little fun at you too I see.

The Hammer:
Oh yeah. Yeah. Compared to him I’m very little, very short. I mean, he’s a big man. I mean, I’d put this talent against any other Super Bowl ad, commercial-wise.

Host:
Okay, so Darryl in this commercial it’s you and your dragon and your hammer that save the day. So, you are Darryl Isaacs – The Hammer. Can you tell us a little bit more about that symbol and your persona?

The Hammer:
Well it kind of fit my personality. It’s was what we wanted to do. I mean, you know, we help people, we try to right wrongs and get justice for those who can’t get it for themselves. Over the years, The Hammer’s kind of become the theme.

The Hammer:
Ah, at the at the end of the day, it’s really good fun, but you know I’m proud to say this is our 25th year, and you know, our law firm has helped tens of thousands of people, and we’ve done over a billion dollars in business. So it’s just a good feeling to be a part of it.

The Hammer:
This was special too because my father passed last year. He was around when we set up this business. And so, part of why I wanted to do something special this year, I thought it would be kind of cool to think of something that, you know, maybe you’ll remember him a little. So, if he was alive today, he would definitely get a big chuckle out of it all.

Host:
Alright, what’s the last word Darryl?

The Hammer:
I was running to the airport. We just shot real late, you know, three days in a row, at least for me. I just wish I could personally thank everybody that’s been a part of it. It was amazing.
