2025 Hammer’s Lou Adopts—3rd Annual Mega Adoption Event

Together, We Can Find Homes for 200 Local Dogs!

The Kentucky Humane Society (KHS), in partnership with Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS), is hosting the third annual Hammer’s Lou Adopts—a mega adoption event dedicated to finding loving homes for local dogs and puppies.

Proudly sponsored once again by Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers, this year’s event will take place onSaturday, May 10th at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center Pavilion, with onsite adoptions available from noon until 4:00 p.m.

A combined 270 dogs were placed in loving homes following the past two events. This year, we strive to move the needle even further. 200 dogs and puppies will be on-site and ready to be adopted.

LOU Adopts

“When you adopt during Hammer’s Lou Adopts, you’re not only giving a loving home to a pet, but you’re also supporting your local shelters and making room for them to save even more animals.”– Alisa Gray, President & CEO, Kentucky Humane Society

“We are excited to once again host Hammer’s Lou Adopts for our Louisville community,” said Alisa Gray, Kentucky Humane Society’s President & CEO. “This third annual mega adoption event will welcome local shelters and showcase more available canines to adopters who are looking for their perfect match. The success we’ve seen the last two years is a testament to how wonderful of an impact our community can make when we come together.”

9 other local shelters will join KHS and LMAS at Hammer’s Lou Adopts to offer the public a large variety of friendly, loving adoptable local dogs and puppies. All dogs and puppies available for adoption will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations.

Adoption fees will vary by participating shelters. Adopters who reside in Jefferson County will also need to pay a $10.50 licensing fee.

To help ensure a good match, adopters are encouraged to bring their resident dogs for meet-and-greets, along with their pets’ vaccination records.

Give a Dog a Home. Give a Family a Friend.

Like shelters across the country, local animal shelters are seeing a sharp rise in the number of pets being surrendered. Owner surrenders and other intakes have surged nationwide, while adoption rates have declined. Hammer’s Lou Adopts aims to ease this burden by helping as many dogs and puppies as possible find loving homes—freeing up critical space so shelters can continue caring for animals in need.

To celebrate each new adoption, Isaacs & Isaacs will give every adopter an exclusive, event-only gift. Attendees can also snap a photo with Darryl “The Hammer” Isaacs, owner and founder of Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers.

Admission and parking are completely free when entering through Gate 1 of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. Attendees may then park in Lot L and proceed to the pavilion area.

“I love dogs, I even feel like I might have been a dog in a former life,” said Darryl Isaacs, owner and founder of Isaacs & Isaacs Personal Injury Lawyers. “So if there’s anything we can do to make sure these lovable animals find their family, we’re proud and excited to be involved. If you’re looking to fill your home with more love, you won’t find a better place to do it than this event.”

About LMAS

Louisville Metro Animal Services operates the city’s only open-intake shelter, which has not euthanized any pets for the fourth consecutive year due to a lack of time or space. The Harshaw Family Foundation Animal Shelter was opened in 2020, creating a single campus for all metro animal-related services. In addition to animal control, licensing, and microchipping, LMAS provides free adoptions for select shelter pets through the Pay It Forward Program.
