Android/iOS: Chances are, you have friends and family across the country, and you like to make sure they’re safe. If you want to keep tabs on the weather conditions in all of their cities, the Red Cross’s new Emergency app lets you do just that.

The Red Cross recently released their free Emergency app, which lets you choose weather alerts based on location. All you have to do is select your cities, add any contacts associated with those locations, and choose to receive alerts related to 35 different weather conditions.

From there, the app will monitor activity in these areas across the country, and you’ll get notifications if there’s severe weather set to hit in an area where you have friends and family.

If they have the app, too, they can let you know they’re safe with the “Family Safe” feature. The app doesn’t share or store any information—there’s no login required. But they have a pretty solid privacy policy, anyway, and you can read more about it here.
